“I’ve watched the same Motivational Interviewing videos over and over. Whether it’s in teaching the curriculum for the last 5 years or sitting through hours of training that I hope will never end. EVERY time I am just inspired and I think, how cool is it that I get to do this every day. I think we all have a purpose and I feel so grateful I get to live mine out this way”
Aly Gibson has a decade and a half of experience in the behavioral health field. After earning her Master’s in Community Mental Health from Gonzaga University in 2011, she spent several years providing school-based and youth mental health services before transitioning into leadership roles at a large community mental health agency, where she served for 8.5 years, where 5.5 of those years were spent as the Program Director. Aly oversaw services for children, youth, and families while supporting and developing staff.
Aly’s journey with Motivational Interviewing (MI) began in 2016 and quickly evolved into a deep professional passion. She became a lead trainer through the Institute for Individual and Organizational Change (IFIOC), completing their Train-the-Trainer program three times. In 2023, she became a coder for the Motivational Interviewing Competency Assessment (MICA), providing individualized coaching to enhance fidelity and outcomes across systems of care within an organization of over 900 employees. Over the years, Aly has pursued every opportunity to deepen her skills—earning CEUs, participating in Peer-to-Peer consultations, appearing on The Communication Solution podcast, and refining her practice through ongoing feedback.
Aly was invited to attend the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) Training of New Trainers (TNT), representing a significant achievement in her ongoing development as an MI practitioner and trainer.
