Motivational Interviewing is a skillset mainly learned to proficiency from the coding and coaching process.
Initial training is key, but gaining the competency or proficiency in the skill set comes from personal Coaching and coding. If an agency is trying to help their teams continuously learn, grow and use Motivational Interviewing as a skill set, we can help.
Train the Trainer= Train the Coder
Learning how to code Motivational Interviewing to fidelity not only helps the user to learn Motivational Interviewing at a deeper level, it helps them to be able to teach, train, coach and GUIDE others in learning Motivational Interviewing.
Agencies have had improved outcomes with keeping Motivational Interviewing competency within their agency by assigning a small group of team members to be the internal coaches for the agency.
Why we don’t do Train the Trainer: Because it doesn’t produce outcomes for our clients. It may help agencies feel like they can serve team members internally with training, but it doesn’t produce measurable outcomes.
