Course Description:

This four month series on Motivational Interviewing in Supervision offers monthly small group collaboration time to staff difficult cases while applying MI principles in to real-time scenarios. Between the monthly small group trainings, participants will be sent brief supervisory scenarios using the Minapsys format and the Delphi learning method where they can apply MI concepts and learn from other responses. This is self-paced and keeps MI fresh in your mind and takes very little time commitment. Finally, each participant will have the opportunity to record and receive feedback using the Motivational Interviewing Competency Assessment (MICA) fidelity tool. This will provide the opportunity for each participant to get individual coaching and feedback on their application of MI in their own professional setting.

Course Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize Opportunities to Apply MI in Supervisory Settings

  • Identify Specific Strategies to Incorporate MI into Annual Reviews

  • Demonstrate MI with Difficult Personnel Issues

  • Demonstrate Strategic Responses to Sustain Talk and Change Talk
